HISTORY

Compassion Chapel Ministries, Inc. started as a dream from the Lord to the late Pastor Gregory H. Horton, Sr. In 2005, Pastor Horton followed his dream and started Compassion Chapel Ministries, Inc. in his home. For the Love of Christ, Pastor Horton and Lady Denise Horton dedicated their time and efforts to building Compassion Chapel Ministries (CCM). Church Service, Sunday School and Bible Study were held, baptisms took place in the backyard and souls were saved. Within two years, due to the increase in membership, there was standing room only at the house.

In 2007, the Lord blessed the congregation with a warehouse located at 700 West Tabor Road in the Olney section of Philadelphia. The gifted men of CCM, worked together and converted the warehouse into a beautiful sanctuary. Various ministries started which consisted of community outreach services, addiction counseling, feeding the hungry, Toys-For-Tots and financial assistance to families in need.

Unfortunately, in 2008, Pastor Horton became very ill. In 2013, due to a decline in membership, CCM relocated to 1910 W. Glenwood Avenue under the continued leadership of Pastor Horton. On January 4, 2017, Pastor Gregory Horton went home to be with the Lord. In May of 2015, Lady Denise Horton preceded Pastor in death.

In 2017, Minister Joann Walker, received the mantle that has been passed on to her from Pastor Horton with great joy from the Lord. The Lord has truly blessed the ministry and this House of Worship continues to grow and serve the community in the Name of Jesus Christ.

VISION

"And the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that read it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." Habakkuk 2:2-3
